Lane County Fair 2014

July brings one of my childhood favorites to our area: The Lane County Fair. In middle and high school, we waited all summer for the one week that the fair was in town. Then, it seemed every kid in town bought a season pass and spent the entire week at the fair socializing. It is a little bit different as an adult, but still fun.

The girls had been excited all week ever since they saw the rides going up at the fairgrounds. First stop was a dance party!

Some 80s band was playing that night, and it brought out the sketchiest people in all of Eugene. At 5, before the concert even started, an ambulance was attending to people in the crowd. We hustled through to go see the animals.

We let Bella choose one ride she wanted to go on. Spoiler alert- it was NOT this one.

We walked through to see every ride, so she could make an informed decision.

And she chose the dragon roller coaster!

Natalia was still scarred from her Enchanted Forest roller coaster ride earlier that month, so she chose to watch.
Bella had a great time! At one point, the carnie stopped the ride to check on a kid who was scared. The girl behind Bella undid her seatbelt and started to climb out. All the parents had to yell to get the attention of the carnie so he didn't star the coaster while she was standing up. This part scared Bella a little bit. She is already cautious about safety, so this was shocking to her. Why would the girl take off her seatbelt?
Overall, it was a great trip to the fair. Next year I might even get the girls ride bracelets.
