Backyard Birdfeeders and The Deck

Jose is mostly finished with the yard, so he one day just decided to reseal the deck. First, he pressure washed the old paint off.

It was very messy!

While he was in the midst of this project, the girls and I had to find other things to do outside that didn't involve being on the deck (which takes up half our yard).

So, first we went on a little hunt for pinecones. Bella and Talia had high expectations and wanted to take their wagon to haul their finds.

Unfortunately for them, I ruined those plans and only let them bring home their ten favorite pinecones. I really didn't want to spend the entire day making birdfeeders.

At home, in the garage, we tied strings to the pinecones and slathered them with peanut butter. Then we rolled them in birdseed.

Natalia was mesmerized by the end result.

Afterward, we hung them from trees in the backyard. We didn't see any birds this time, but just a few days later all the birdseed and peanut butter was gone. Plus, the girls had a good time making them, so I think this will be a great winter activity.
