A Yard Update in Photos

Jose spent a good portion of the summer working in the backyard. When we bought our house, we liked that the backyard had a lot of space and was pretty private, but it didn't suit our needs.

Jose first moved several boxes of raised garden beds from the lower area to the upper area. He took out a small picket fence and seeded the dirt with grass. This doubled our grassy area.

He also removed an old mossy rock wall and buitl this retaining wall in it's place.

The dirt areas were covered with overgrown bushes and ground cover. Jose removed most of those (or trimmed them) and planted flowering bushes.

On the upper yard, he removed the chicken coop and a dying cherry tree as well as the over grown bushes. He created a pathway through the fruit plants and put the garden beds in the corner.

It looks so much cleaner and is really easy to maintain.

We didn't plant the garden beds this year because we got a late start, so we were really surprised when all three overflowed with buds.

It turns out we have quite a pumpkin patch.

With some sunflower accents.

The deck is restained, and soon the rails will be repainted in a red or rust color. Now it doesn't blend in with the house.

The girls really love playing out there! Thanks, Jose!

P.S. This one is almost ready!
