Nina, The Wonder Dog

In the beginning of 2011, Nina was diagnosed with diabetes. Since then, we have been giving her insulin shots twice a day. The vet counseled us on the signs to watch for to indicate diabetic shock, coma, etc. and told us that if she gets sick it would be really hard to get her levels back in line.

A few days ago, Nina stopped eating and drinking. She was a little shaky, and we thought she was ok, but then she had several really gross accidents in the house. We had accepted that if she got really sick again, that would be the end, so we mentally prepared the family and spent lots of time with her.

At the vet, they drew her blood to determine her sugar levels and ran a blood panel to see if her organs were failing. Lo and behold, she just had a stomach bug. She is on an antibiotic and is already improving greatly.

I am pretty sure Nina is going to live forever.
