A Trend

It is no secret that Bella hates to sleep. Ever since she was a tiny baby, she has fought sleep. She didn't even take a nap longer that 20 minutes or so until she was almost 9 months old. She didn't sleep through the night (with the exception of the first 3 months of life when she totally did!) until almost 2, and then only when in our bed.

She now goes to bed pretty easily (still in our bed- not a battle we are willing to fight yet) with a long wind down period. Naps, however, are a different story. We had finally created a routine that got her to take an hour or two nap. It came with a lot of rocking and distraction on our part, but she really needs a nap break during the day, so we persisted.

Lately, she has been winning. She absolutely refuses to take a nap on some days, and our old tricks are not working. The other day, Jose went to put her down for a nap. A half hour later I heard the door to her room open and close. Instead of Jose, out came Bella. Jose was fast asleep in her bed.

With the skipping of naps comes a lot of meltdowns. And a lot of this:

  1. This makes me laugh! I remember one time I was babysitting and she refused to take a nap... I panicked and ended up driving around for an hour with her asleep in the car seat. Works every time! (Ok, not really...)
