Nurses Jessica and Jose to the Rescue

It has been quite the busy weekend in our little house. As you may remember, Nina (our beagle/rottweiler mix) has been sick for quite a while. I took her to the doctor before Christmas because she was limping and not eating. Diagnosis- a sprained knee.

After another month or so of her not getting better (in fact dropping more weight, bumping into stuff, drinking tons of water, and waking us up multiple times a night) we took her back to the vet. Diagnosis- type I diabetes resulting in cataracts.

Nina spent the day in the doggie hospital trying to bring her glucose levels down, and we took her home that night. She is now feeling much, much, much better. However, Jose and I have to feed her a special diet and give her insulin shots twice a day. I never ever thought I would administer a shot. It is gross. But not as bad as I thought it would be! We are also adjusting to having a blind dog. She is compensating really well, but Bella has been run over a time or two.
