The day before I left for Washington DC, I was trying to get all my ducks in a row for the trip. This included grocery shopping, cooking some meals for the family, and packing. I was cooking some beans for Yumm bowls when Bella suggested that we run to Target. We piled in the car, and off we went. We arrived back home 45 minutes later to a house filled with smoke and a screeching smoke alarm. Luckily, there was no fire, but our house stayed smoky for days!
A day or so into my trip, Jose mentioned that Bella had given herself a black eye. According to her, she was lying on the ground and holding a ceramic candle holder above her head with her feet. It slipped and hit her in the face.
The night before I came home, we all FaceTimed with the girls and were getting ready for bed when I got a text from Jose. Natalia had slipped in the bathroom after her bath and took a header into the side of the bathtub. She had chipped off a chunk of her front tooth.
When I got home, I took her to the dentist and there is no lasting damage. They can try to smooth it when she gets a little older if she wants, but in several years it will just fall out.
Overall, no long term issues, but a bad week nonetheless.
