Oregon Coast Aquarium

The first weekend in April, we took the girls to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. Bella went when she was little, but we haven't been in a few years. This might be because Bella hated taking long trips in the car and it always ended with her screaming for at least 30 minutes of the trip.

Fortunately, this trip was much easier. We were all smiles when we arrived in Newport.

It was a little rainy, but luckily the first part of the aquarium is indoors. They added quite a bit since we had been there last. There was a submarine that the kids could play in, a sandbox in which they could dig for seashells, and the favorite: a fishing boat and dock complete with lifejackets and fishing poles. The girls would have stayed here for hours if we let them.

Last visit, Bella was a little creeped out by the jellyfish. This time, she really liked them. She wanted to take lots of pictures of them, too!

The touch pool was also a favorite. The girls got to touch seastars and sea anenomes.

Next, our adventure headed outdoors. The weather was still gray, but not raining so it was perfect timing. First we saw the octopus and toured the aviary. The puffins were cute and looked like they had pigtails.

After a short trip outside, we entered the shark tube. Bella was a little scared of the big sharks while Natalia thought they were funny. There was also a shipwreck!

Natalia mostly wanted to run around the tunnel and climb on the ledges.

The last stop was a little outdoor play area for the kids. It was sprinkling outside, so we didn't stay for too long. Natalia made friends with a sea turtle.

Bella cuddled up to one, too!

We let them pick one item from the gift shop to commemorate the trip. Bella chose a baby sea otter and Natalia chose a baby turtle.

We even stopped at BJ's ice cream on the way home. Overall, we had a great trip!
