Sinus Infection of Death and A Park Trip

I know, it sounds like those two things totally don't go together... but, THEY DO!

I have been slacking on my updates lately because the sinus infection that had been in my head for a month finally started to drain (maybe with a little help from a Dr. Suess block to the face) and I have felt horrible this past week!

After passing my lovely sickness along to Jose, we decided to lay low this past week. On Saturday, after spending the morning and afternoon doing nothing but watch awful movies on HBO, we needed to get out of the house.

Off for a little shopping, but nothing exciting to report there. The highlight was new cutting mats since I broke a cutting board. Woohoo!

We weren't quite ready to go home, and Miss Independent was sick of sitting in her stroller (why, when you can WALK everywhere?), so we went to visit the ducks at Alton Baker Park.

Bella had never seen ducks before, even though it is her favorite animal, and she quacks all the time. She was fascinated, and the ducks were not shy. They came right up to us looking for food. Isabella was excited and make quack noises back at them.

The geese were a different story. They were bigger than Bella and loud. I tried not to freak out, and Bella immediately wanted me to pick her up. They were a little too close for comfort. And geese are mean and scary.

Jose was unfazed. He casually drank his milkshake amongst the birds while Bella and I slowly backed away from the animals.

Bella kept lookout on the geese while I took self portraits.

  2. I've met those bandit-like geese! I think steel-toed shoes should be a requirement for anyone visiting the duck pond at Alton Baker Park. Sorry to hear you were sick this past month. Wish I was there to bring you some comfort food ... elk stroganoff. KV
