We moved into our new house last May, and we spent most of the summer deconstructing (and somewhat re-constructing) the backyard. And when I say we, I mean Jose.
I have always maintained that I do not like nature. I enjoy looking at pretty sunsets, and the beach and desert, but other than that it is not my thing. I don't like being sweaty, I don't like getting dirty, and I don't like having to be rescued off a very busy hiking local in town (long story!!).
But this year, I was somehow motivated to start a garden. I think it was new and fun. So, I picked up a few starts at a local nursery. Hopefully, this works as I typically have a black thumb.
It all looks so cute and orderly!
May is also the time for the girls' preschool Trike-a-thon. I didn't get to stay all morning and watch Isabella. However, Natalia's class is adorable!
Look at that focus!
She looks like the little mushroom in Super Mario.
Later that week, Natalia relaxed eating a burger in bed with no pants. Pretty much the epitome of toddler fun!
Mother's Day was pretty low-key and uneventful. We did the usual brunch at Elmer's with my parents. My sissy got me these beautiful flowers!
The afternoon was spent relaxing at home. The girls sat on their chairs on the front porch watching the neighborhood. This reminds me of my Grandpa Bill and Nana on their porch in Missouri.
Bella wanted to do a photo shoot with me and Natalia, and this might be one of my favorites. Talia Mae is so ridiculous in the best way!
Bella celebrated a classmate's birthday at a new gym. She had lots of fun pretending to be a monkey. I can't believe how big and brave she is getting! This girl is beyond ready for kindergarten next year.
This year the girls have brought home a lot of artwork from school, and I have been unsure of what to do with it. We decided to tape it all to the playroom wall and create a gallery. Eventually we will paint and redo the floors in this room, but for now it is a tape on the wall kind of hang out.
Jose, in his creative Craigslisting ways, got a basketball hoop for free. He has been enjoying the nice weather while shooting hoops in the driveway after work.
Look how much my garden grew already this month!
Bella has been getting oriented to the elementary school she will be attending next year. One of the events they hosted was a kindergarten family night, and Smokey the Bear came to join the fun. Bella is so excited to go to the big kid school with the neighbors!
On the final day of May, Jose totalled his car. He was so sad, as this was his most favorite car (this was the car that ran into him).
While the damage on his car looked minor, it was un-driveable. Look for a new car soon!
Happy May!
