The Week of the Plague

Last week, Bella started feeling crummy. Jose's mom had a cough/ respiratory cold for the past few weeks and it finally caught up to Bella. First, a runny nose. Then, a fever. Finally, the hacking cough of death. We tried to fight it off with a Shamrock Shake.

This weekend, after days of Bella coughing in my face or wiping her nose on me, I got it too. I stayed home with her on Monday, and came home from work early on Tuesday.

We are miserable!!! Except now Bella is pretty much better, I am slowly recovering, and I think Jose is just now starting to get it.

On Monday, after being cooped up all weekend, I suggested Bella and I go to Targer to get some diapers and food. This interaction pretty much sums up the past week.

Me: Do you want to go to Target?
Bella: Yeah, Target!
Me: Ok, let's put on our shoes.
Bella: NOOOOOO!!!! NOOOOO TARGET!
Me: We need to get food.
Bella: NOOOOO FOOOD!
Finally, we make it to Target (after not great parenting moment bribes involving slushies)
Bella: I want a slushie!
Me: Ok! Wait... they are remodling and the food place is no longer there. Obviously. How about a yummy drink with oranges! Mmmm! (It is a life water.)
Bella: NOOOOOO DRINK!
Me: I think you will like this one. It is yummy.
Bella: NOOOOOOO ORANGE DRINK!!!
A few minutes later.
Bella: Mama, this is pretty delicious.

It was the only thing I did right all day.
