Christmas Party Extravaganza (aka the one where I detail all the food)

This weekend was so busy! On Friday, we went to my parents' house for their neighborhood block party. My dad won a catered dinner at one of the restaurant association auctions, so they opted to do appetizers for 50 people instead. Jose, Bella, and I (and Jenna, too) made the cut even though we don't live in their 'hood. Jenna played bartender/cocktail waitress while I ended up entertaining the kids. Not bad work for a delicious feast of tenderloin, hot crab dip, spanakopita, wrapped asparagus, praline bacon, fig something or other, salted truffles, and carmel sticky pudding. Yum!

Saturday, Jose went Christmas shopping and Bella and I ventured out to the holiday market and Costco. Those are pretty much opposite places. Holiday market was mildly entertaining. I didn't find what I was looking for, but Bella did get to sample regular fudge and blackberry fudge. (See, I am a good mom. She only sampled 2 of the possible 48 flavors!) Costco had the Christmas samples out: tamales, flautas, leg of lamb, prosciutto, oranges, chocolates, cookies, raisin bread, oh my! I think it was Bella's favorite place EVER! That night was Jose's work party hosted by the anesthesiologists. Again, delicious food. There was no made up song and comedy routine this year, but we still had a good time.

Sunday we had church (no food, but at this point I should probably never eat again), lunch at Elmer's (Looking for Sun omlette!), then the Ducks basketball game. They lost, but kept it close for the first 3/4 of the game. However, EJ Singler's mullet was unacceptable. After the game, Bella and I went to the church caroling party, then to the live nativity. I think I have some more work to do in my relating of the Christmas story because Bella thinks everyone with a beard is a Wise Man.
