Birth Day and Hospital Stay

As you may know, Isabella Marie made her entrance on February 5th at 12:44 pm. She weighed 8 pounds 13 ounces and was 21 inches long. She didn't really want to cooperate (I'm sure this is a sign of what is to come as she gets older), and was breech, so I had a c-section. Though not excited about the prospect of getting sliced open while conscious, it was really very easy. I spent about half the time laughing because it felt weird.

Here is my first glimpse of Bella. She looks just like me when I was a baby, except she has hair.

First family photo. As you can see, I was very happy!

The pediatrician was concerned with her rapid breathing, so on her 2nd day she had to get an echocardiogram, chest xray, and blood drawn for testing. It wasn't a super fun day, and at the end her breathing increased to a rate that put her in the NICU. Fortunately, she just had some fluid in her lungs, so with a little bit of an assist from a HHNP (high humidity nasal prong) she was out in a few days.

Finally, on Tuesday we got to take her home. We are all so excited to have her here. Even the dogs like her.
